BENDIGO BMX star Matthew White’s career is set for take-off.
The 15-year-old is flying high after signing a sponsorship deal with major American outfit, Hyper.
“Most sponsors that Australian riders get, especially at my age, are just normal Australian or bike companies,” White said.
“(Hyper) is like the biggest, highest team you can have.
“There isn’t one not good rider and they’re all top level people.”
White was spotted by scouts after racing to fifth at thisyear’s world championships in New Zealand.
His new sponsorship deal will cover all-expenses paid trips to train in America, and gets White a ride in the ABA Grand Nationals at Tulsa in November.
“That’s known as the biggest race in the world. That’s what I get to race in,” White said.
“Next year all my flights get paid to go ride around Australia and I get paid to go to America next year.
“The team manager is the junior development coach for America’s kids.
“America is the place to ride because they’re the best.”
White will warm-up for his American stint with another trip to New Zealand later this month.
This time he’ll go as captain of Australia’s Trans-Tasman Test team for 14 and 15-year-olds.
