Sites kept free of litter

IN A new push to keep the city’s public places free of litter, Penrith Council is urging residents to make a Litter-Free Promise.

To make your promise count, download the Litter-Free Promise certificate at penrithcity.nsw.gov.au/LitterFreePromise. “Like” Council on Facebook and follow them on [email protected] to get involved in other opportunities including sharing “before” and “after” photos of litter hotspots around the city.

The council hopes at least 1000 people will state their commitment to keep Penrith clean.

Mayor Mark Davies said: “Any waste – no matter how small – left somewhere other than in a bin can end up in stormwater systems and our waterways.

“Litter is harmful to the environment as well as being unattractive. Our crews collect three tonnes of litter each month. That time and money could be better spent improving our city.”

Litter-Free Promise – I will:

■ Put my rubbish in the bin

■ Take my rubbish with me

■ Spread the anti-litter message

■ Clean up after my dog

■ Butt and bin cigarettes

■ Keep a litter bag in my car
