Well no, she was the only girl in the team but “she loved it”, said mother Salina.

Then she switched to netball at seven and “she’s loving it”.

Just one of the girls.

Well, no.

The 11-year-old’s innate skills have put her a jump above the pack and make her a natural Junior Sportstar of the Month.

She’s gone from her Regentville school team to the NSW team, and was players’ player when the state finished second to Victoria at the recent PSAA carnival in Maitland.

She’s gone from the Glenmore Park Saturday A grade team to the Penrith association 12 years first division team for 2013, and the 13 years team for 2014.

She’s a schools representative basketball player and an athlete who competes in the sprints, 800 metres and shot put.

And when she’s sick of netball, there’s always netball.

Natalina has completed an umpiring course and has assisted coaching the Glenmore Park under-8s.

You could call her a sporty girl.

“We wanted to keep her active,” mother Salina said of her daughter’s introduction to sport.

They’ve succeeded.

The representative basketball?

“She started playing for the school not knowing the rules,” mum said.

“It’s just for fun.”

Bit of a relief to know Natalina’s not quite supergirl.

She’s only now starting swimming lessons.

The Junior Sportstar of the Month is sponsored by St Marys Leagues Club with the club providing funding of $400.
