DONNYBROOK-Balingup Shire Council will seek community comment on the selection of Egan Park between Reserve Street and the netball courts, taking over half of Netball Court 1, as the proposed location for the Donnybrook Skatepark.
The venue is one of three possibilities considered, including north of the existing Netball courts, between the existing Netball court 1 and Reserve Rd and between the existing Netball court 1 and Reserve Rd, but taking up part of Netball court 1.
Meeting minutes noted the location had good passive surveillance, one of the key considerations in assessing a skate park location, and was very close to the Apple Fun Park, enabling parents with younger children to easily access both facilities.
A detailed site survey and geotech survey is required to determine existing services which may make this location cost prohibitive.
There may be some encroachment of the railway reserve, so discussions will need to be held with the PTA and Brookfield.
This venue is still close to residents but does provide an additional space barrier, as the skate park would be located 5-10 metres further away from the nearest resident than under alternate proposals.
