Around 13,000 litres of E10 fuel was given away within an hour during a Woolworths promotion at a Werrington service station on Saturday.
There was a queue of at least 12 cars at Woolworths Petrol on the Great Western Highway before the promotion even started and at times cars were queuing around the block.
‘‘Saturday’s giveaway in Werrington was a huge success with almost 350 motorists enjoying free fuel and learning more about the benefits of putting E10 in their tanks,’’ Woolworths general manager of petrol James Aylen said.
‘‘We know how much families are watching their budgets so this was something we could do, with our partners, to help people make ends meet while promoting a cleaner fuel that’s safe and reliable. The local police and our many staff were invaluable in ensuring as many people as possible had a great start to their weekend.”
Penrith resident Luke Wakeling swung in when he saw the queue and the staff member waving a free fuel board and had his car filled up by V8 supercar driver Todd Kelly.
Todd’s brother and fellow V8 Supercar driver Rick was also there filling up cars and chatting to customers.
‘‘You can’t argue with the offer of a free tank of fuel and a chat with a racing car driver,’’ Mr Wakeling said.
Werrington resident Renee Gretch heard about the giveaway on social media:
‘‘I use E10 so I thought it was awesome you could get a tank for free,’’ she said
